SFU was pretty cool. I picked up Erin at 11 and we set off to SFU. I
had my dad’s GPS with me so that we wouldn’t get lost, and guess what,
we didn’t. As usual, there wasn’t much conversation, what with PW and my lack of conversational skills. But otherwise, it was a fun drive with the GPS.
Anyway, we were supposed to meet Justin at the residence parking lot at
12:10pm, but we had only just parked by then because I took a wrong
turn and ended up going too far east. Originally we planned to meet up
with him and then decide to either go to his biology lecture or just
walk around. But since we couldn’t meet up, we were left with only one
choice.
So me, my trusty map and Erin walked, starting from the dorms, all the way through to convocation hall, and then around the Academic Quadrangle. It actually all started coming back to me. Soon after though, Erin found out that she wasn’t carrying her cell phone, so we walked back to my car to go look for it. Thankfully, we found it just lying on the floor mat, so all was well. We went back to the quadrangle and this time, went into the courtyard instead of into the building itself. There was a pond/pool type thing, a large hill, an avocado-like sculpture, a Terry Fox statue and a wireframe of square pyramid. We attempted to climb the hill, which in itself is actually quite interesting. It consisted of several pyramids, with flat sections. It reminded both of us of The Sims, and the way that lifting ground was so rectangular and everything. Anyway, we were on the second level when I realized that there was probably a normal way to get up there (at the time, we were just trying to climb up on the grass like mountain climbers or something). Anyway, we walked around and guess what, we found, a paved pathway to the top. And guess what we saw at the top? A
pathway at the bottom a few metres to the right of where we started climbing. Truly unobservant of the both of us. Anyway we kept on
walking and eventually found the sad excuse SFU has for a “village”. It
consisted of one building with about a dozen shops. At that point in
time, I decided to call Justin because it was 1:30pm and his class was
over. He and us happened to be on opposite ends of the campus. So we
decided to meet at the Convocation Hall.
So we met up with him and then we walked up to his dorm, which happens to be on an all guys floor. Apparently, his floor stinks of deodorant, smoke and sweat, but I couldn’t smell it. Anyway, his dorm is actually very small, smaller than my room even. Possibly just the size of my upstairs bathroom. And there, he had his laptop, his bed, his desk, mini fridge and whatever else. He explained that normally Peter would be waiting outside his door to play Team Fortress 2, but it just so happens that he wasn’t there today. Anyway, TF2 doesn’t really look all that great. Really, I was more interested in Portals, which is very awesome. You shoot out portals in which you can literally teleport through and everything. This leads to some hilarious infinte loops. For example, putting two portals on the ground and falling into them, or putting one portal on the ceiling and another just below it. The gravity change is really funny. But anyway, after that we decided to go eat lunch.
After a while, we decided to go eat sushi at Metrotown. I went to go collect my car, and paid $6.75 (at a rate of $2.25/hour) and head off for Metrotown. The food was okay, but the service was horrible. When we had paid and were waiting for our change, it never came. We were expecting $6 back, with tips already having been added to the menu prices (lame) and yet, nothing came back until I asked for it. Even then, the waitress came back with only $3 and we had to tell her that we wanted $6. At that time, she took out her notepad, and started scribbling down how much she owed us. It was apparent that had I not asked, we would not have gotten any change back whatsoever. So I left them with 4 pennies and quickly left.
During the dinner was pretty good. While I was waiting for my nabeyaki udon, Erin gave me a few pieces of her teriyaki chicken. And then, when she went for a California roll, she dropped it into her tea. I picked it out, and in turn dropped it into my udon, and then I ate it. There was much fake fapping, and lots of innuendo, as to be expected from teenagers. There was a couple sort of getting intimate at the next table and then I told Justin to “ruin the mood” and we both proceeded to fap with our hands. Also, when we got the wrong change back, I suggested that we all make pissed off looks, only to have Justin make a face that made him look like he was in a drug induced trance. Erin couldn’t keep a straight face, and I was really the only one successful. All in all, that was entertaining.
So after eating, we started walking around Sakura Media, and it was then that I started getting really bored. Knowing me, I’m not really a huge anime fan, and I really wanted to move faster, but well, those two liked it so I waited. We then headed over to Crystal Mall to look at more anime stuff. Once again, I found myself out of it. So I dunno. Other than that though, things were all right. We walked back to the backside of Metrotown and we left Justin to his Skytraining/bussing back home to SFU, while Erin and I made for my car.
The ride home, to say the least was very boring. Erin fell asleep, and I was left to battle the traffic jam that was lining up to get onto Knight Street bridge. Particularly, lining up, and going about the last 300 feet took 30 minutes to do. For one thing, there was an accident where somebody seemed to have shut off his car IN the line up, so we kind of had to move around HIM. So that was stupid, he caused a lot of weaving. Funny thing, when it came time to turn left onto the bridge, the guy on the right lane (two lanes can turn on that road) made a run for it to turn left and got stuck in between the intersection. Oncoming traffic, whose light was green, got really pissed off, and started using the horn like mad. Like that’s really going to get him to move when there’s no room TO move. However, once we did get onto the bridge, everybody started merging into the centre lane, because the police had blocked off the outer lane. So we merged onto the centre lane, and looking to the right, there was a multiple car crash, about 8 cars involved. So THIS was what was causing all that traffic. Right after passing it, I sped away and everything was fine for about 5 minutes. I got to Alderbridge Way, and turned right onto Shell Road, then turned left on Cambie. Lo and behold, another car accident, this time involving 2 cars on No.4. So, I had to turn right onto No. 4, and had to go through those small neighbourhood roads to get to Erin’s house. Even worse, I happened to be following a guy from Washington (license plate) and he went really slow, which I couldn’t really blame him for (tourist getting pushed into a tiny neighbourhood road). But anyway yeah. Finally got to her house, woke her up, and went home. On the way home though, I saw ANOTHER accident, on No. 4 and Alderbridge Way and I thought, “Wow, this is really getting ridiculous.” So this had to be one of the most horrible nights of driving that I’ve experienced.

The fact that all this would be able to fit in your upstairs bathroom frightens me.
